Can't resist writing about this fine, heavenly dessert...apparently the only one I care for about while being in US. In fact the credit goes to the Italians for creating this delicacy.
"Stories are told about how Tiramisu was the favorite of Venice's courtesans, who needed a "pick me up" (the literal translation of "tirami-su") to fortify themselves between their amorous encounters. True? Probably not. But it makes for a colorful history."
It becomes all the more significant since I've tried all sort of cakes, pastries in this huge land known for its share of obesity. I wonder where does the obesity come from...it certainly cant stem from these tasteless desserts. Of 99% of the desserts I've tried in US, I've been disappointed with their overly cloying, hard and sickeningly sweet taste. Tiramisu is the only exception and remains my favourite as I celebrated my b'day with a spoonful of it.
Its light smoothy cream would just remain little enough in your mouth and the chocolate taste that slowly creeps in along with a rich coffee cum liquor aroma leaves you craving for the next bite! so much for a dessert, indeed an ecstacy...
