not so bright at Wall St this holiday season

One of the most painful/delightful things to do these days might be to see the stock market or your portfolio, indeed US one. With spurts of ridiculous comments coming from 'innocent' CEOs and cranky analysts, the stocks keep falling or rocketing for no apparent triumph or losses of a company.
Sometimes, the earnings are not good enough and stocks fall. But these days, even when they are good, they were not good enough for the investors' expectations and they fall. Then occassional ratings and fears from random analysts such as Google would start doing this business soon, be this business be shipping/medical/oil or whatever cause the poor stock crashing down. At some point, the logic of it starts defying every damn theory you might have heard. But well, that is the fun of trading at times. Today was a bad day, a 'really' bad day...mostly on my watch were the tech stocks but overall fears of recession are drowning all kinds of stocks.
As it is, dollar in itself is a let down. And the volatility that has crept in, is just breathtaking. Companies are toppling, CEOs are being fired, write downs are increasing and what not. How is US economy going to sustain, what is Fed going to do and how are 'newly appointed CEOs' going to react is the big Q. Meanwhile I am keeping a close eye on my portfolio!
