There was the earth engulfing those men and women,
as they vanished down from the roads
And then I see- Oh! its the subway
The night isn't dark here, and the city doesnt sleep
Dazzled in the light, I am wondering where I am
And then I notice- Oh! its the Times Square
2 am and the train is full,
I look into the anxious faces around
some aware of their existence and many, not
A massive trench cuts out in the heart of city
what is left makes me imagine of that which is no more there
The strange emptiness in the air may give you a shiver
And you will see- That, its the Ground Zero
Suddenly you'll find people rushing past,
for no reason that you can physically see
they whisper and blink and express with everything but words
Dont worry- its the famous Wall Street
Standing on Jersey waterfront, I see the magnificent skyline
A greenish copper lady standing to my right
Is it the shine of stars or the man made wonders
When I feel accompanied in the solitude and look for solitude in the crowd
And then I smile- It's New York.
