Finally, I succumbed to the temptation of jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone and luckily, I had no scary experience. Here, I would like to mention that my new iPhone had crashed for reasons unknown and I had to get it replaced at the Apple's genius bar. The new (or whtever apple gave back to me) phone had since worked without any problems but I was hesitant about messing with it. But after seeing a lot of friends breaking the chains and getting cooler apps, I ultimately took the risk.
Its a tedious process if you are on firmware 1.1.2 and might take some time. I will blog the process and possible pitfalls soon (hopefully). Overall, I spent around 1-1:30 hrs but finally it worked. Also, I can now use it with non ATT sims in India.
Ironically, as I am talking about breaking the Apple codes and restrictions, it's been long time since Apple made some news. Gone past stylish cell phones, Steve Jobs came up with 'thin' laptops this time (and thin here means 0.78 inches). Its being called 'MacBook Air'. Apple never had issues with style and beauty but this new product has failed to invoke the awe and ravings from the public and even the Mac lovers like me. First of all, its not a stand alone laptop at all and I do not foresee most of the people (at least bachelors and students) willing to own 2 machines just for getting the convenience of lightness. And besides, it isnt that cheap either. It would have made sense if they provided a detachable dock too (like Sony does for its dockable VAIOs). So, as of now Macbook Air doesnt look like repeating the success of iPods and iPhones (that reminds me of another faled venture of apple TV). Anyways, long story short Apple will need to come up with more interesting things to at least keep its share values afloat.

Oh cmon dvd drives are so overrated!
I don't have one anyways, so I kinda liked the slimness and lightness of the MacBook Air
