Once there was a big Wall St. firm Z. In its E division, existed a team C. Okay, dont get restless, I am coming to the point. It so happened that an order on C's system with price $41.99 was recorded as $99. Bang! that was a big terrible explosion. By the time the mistake was realized, Z had lost a lot of money. What to do? Traders would shout, management would question. Someone has to figure out an explanation. So, a team meeting was called and everyone made their contributions. After long hours of tussle, a conclusion was reached upon. It was decided that the mistake was a result of network error. Well, what sort of network error, you would ask. It is a rare error and dont feel bad if you haven't come across it in your school or work experience. The culprit was none other than TCP (did I hear Tanenbaum groan somewhere?). Oh yes, the chump (TCP of crs) had dropped 3 bytes somewhere. Ha, and what is the solution to prevent this devilish thing from happening again? Simple! Spend a million dollars in getting better Cisco devices that wont let TCPs and UDPs mess around with Wall Streeters!
And you thought they taught everything at US universities. My poor friend in C is still searching for those 3 bytes...
Oh and btw, there might be positions open in C, wanna apply?
